Spring Newsletter Welcome Letter

Welcome to our Spring Newsletter, especially since Spring represents the start of new, brighter things. On that note it’s significant to all the changes taking place at Fordoun at the moment. Yes, the last year and a half has been a holding phase for us, we have tried new things but done a full circle where it has become obvious that we are identified as a property that delivers a certain product and we need to be true to that. It is time for us to move optimistically forward, yes things are different and the world has changed but we feel that growth is important not just to Fordoun but to the country as well!

We are extremely excited to welcome two new chefs to Fordoun, Jonathan Kalika and Ricardo Venter, they both come with a wealth of experience, skills and enthusiasm. Their congenial personalities also add to the warm culture at Fordoun which we see as important. We want people on our team who are passionate about what they do and are a pleasure to spend time with. The two chefs add to a capable team that has been extremely well led by Lizzy who has done an incredible job maintaining standards while we searched for the right individuals to arrive.

The Spa as well sees Molly Staats who oversees are marketing so professionally, boldly take on the challenges of assisting to manage the award-winning facility. She is more than capable and has earned great experience in this field through her work at Umngazi Hotel & Spa and of course here at Fordoun. The Spa at Fordoun has always been very much a part of our holistic approach to leisure, hospitality and indulgence and it is time to consolidate that ethos.

We are delighted that weddings are starting up again. Some couples have been waiting patiently for their opportunity to share their special day with their close friends and family and with our dedicated team of Lungile and Lorinda, we intend to make the long-awaited consummation well worth the wait!

The supremely creative Georgie Ridl has been working tirelessly on the room upgrades to refresh the style and comfort that is part of the Fordoun experience.

It has been a few years now since we had a decent snow fall and could not have ordered a more perfect offering. There was enough snow to cover the entire property with a couple of inches of white made for a magical display. A special and memorable event for all those lucky enough to experience. A veritable Winter Wonderland. The snow for us is seen as a good omen, cleansing our minds of the surreal memories of the past and promising a new dawn. We truly look forward to hosting you all in the future.
