Our 3 Dam Deluxe suites have a view of our rolling lawns and trout dam. Each room has a king-size bed, dressing-room area, bathroom with bath and shower, under floor heating in both bathroom and bedroom, air-conditioning, private balconies, tea and coffee-making facilities and mini bar area. All rooms have DSTV and DVD player.

The Deluxe rooms are our middle tier of rooms. What sets them apart from the luxury rooms is that they all have private patios with views of the dam. They are built from what used to be the homestead’s stables and sheds for the original Aberdeen Angus stud herd. Like all our rooms they are individually themed and decorated.

The Rose Room

There is a rose garden at Fordoun, which is lovingly tended by Micheline Bates. This room is often used for guests coming on a Romantic Getaway.

Battlefields Room

We are only 25 minutes drive away from the battlefields of both the Zulu and Anglo-Boer wars. We frequently have guests staying with us who go on battlefields tours, and the hotel usually works with well-respected battlefields historian Ron Gold, who lives nearby.

Berg Room

The majestic Drakensberg mountain range is within 40 minutes of Fordoun, and on a clear day it feels like you can reach out and touch it.
